Valuations for Insurance
For insurance we provide a detailed appraisal that includes metal type, stone types and size*, and an opinion on the quality of the item. The replacement value is shown against each item, based on current market trends and our years of dealing in jewellery.* Should stones need to be removed from their setting for sizing or testing we will advise you of additional costs before proceeding.
Valuations for Probate
When you have to settle an estate on which there may be inheritance tax to be paid, or if there are special terms to a will, you may need to provide evidence of the disposal value of the jewellery. The disposal value is that which the goods would sell for, in their current condition, at an open auction.Probate values should not be confused with Insurance values, as they are often very different! (considerably lower).For probate our valuations include a brief description of each item with a disposal value shown against each individual item. In some cases we may be interested in purchasing the item.
Valuations for Sales Between Parties
Should you wish to buy or sell an item of jewellery or silverware privately, we can provide a valuation to assist with agreeing a fair price.The valuation will include a brief description of each item with an expected sale value next to each individual item.
