Sterling Silver Tudor Rose 5.3/4in Dish
This Sterling Silver dish is an exact replica of the beautiful Alms dish of 1548 from St.Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle. During the Wars of the Roses the Yorkists fought under the White Rose and the Lancastrians the Red Rose. Henry of Richmond a Lancastrian, who became Henry VII on the death of Richard III in 1485, united the red and white roses upon his marriage to Elizabeth of York and adopted it as the badge for the House of Tudor. The original dish is 13in across and bears the London hallmarks of 1548 staggered around its broad rim.
