The Gleneagle Grandfather Clock - mahogany - 7ft
The Gleneagle cabinet is typical of the work of the clockmaker William Robb of Montrose, Circa. 1790, decorated with intricate Sheraton inspired marquetry. Extensive use of stringing and corner inlays enhance the superb flame mahogany veneers. The scroll pediment is decorated with wheat motifs and crowned with a fine cast brass eagle. The case features "Corinthian" fluted pillars to the hood, reeded quarter columns to the trunk and "French Hepplewhite" splayed feet. The painted dial features a rocking ship that marks the swing of the pendulum.
FEATURES INCLUDE: *Triple chime movement that plays Westminster, Whittington and St.Michael melodies. *Forward sliding hood for ease of adjustment. *Automatic night silencer, chime sequence and beat correction. *Hand rubbed and waxed cabinet. *Delicate milled hands typical of the period. *Lacquered solid brass fittings. *Bevelled glass.
