Admiral Fitzroy's Mercury Barometer - Oak
A fine copy of Admiral Fitzroy's mercury barometer and weather station in an oak case with lacquered brass fittings. Introduced in 1860 by Admiral Fitzroy - provider of the world's first weather forecasting service and earlier Captain of H.M.S. Beagle (of Charles Darwin fame). The instrument carries his instructions for interpreting the pressure changes, a C & F thermometer and a chemical weatherglass.
