Sterling Silver Armada Dish 4.1/4"
The original dish was reputedly made from silver taken from the Spanish Armada in 1588, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. In about 1645, during the civil war, it was buried in a field to avoid seizure by the Parliamentary troops, where it lay undisturbed until early in the 1900's when it was rediscovered. This interesting and attractive dish has been inspired by the original and incorporates the staggered hall-marks characteristic of the era. Supplied in a presentation box.
